Strix Systems OWS NEMA Enclosure

OWS With Sunshield Installed
Strix Systems Outdoor Wireless System (OWS) Wi-Fi Wireless Mesh

The Strix Systems Outdoor Wireless System (OWS) Chassis

  • Field-serviceable (or optional) factory sealed fiberglass enclosures
  • Models Include: 1, 2 or 3 802.11a+802.11b/g radio boards (field upgradable)
  • Network Server Modules (NSM) for mesh control based on overall node count
  • Various mounting kits and power options
  • NEMA 4X rated enclosure (12x10x6 or 14x12x8 inches)
  • 802.3af Power-over-Ethernet and direct 110/230 VAC operation
  • Chassis heating element and DC power options
  • Operating Temperature: -30C to +55C
  • Wind Survivability: >165 Mph
  • Weight: 14.5 lbs to 16.5 lbs

The Strix Systems OWS installs easily with various mounting bracket options. The interconnected Wi-Fi mesh architecture includes:

Interior Mesh Nodes - Form backhaul links between radios and provide client Wi-Fi service. This the the predominant node type. The most basic Interior Mesh Node consists of two 802.11a radios for the backhaul and one or two 802.11b/g radios for client connectivity. A third backhaul or client radio could be installed as could a 4.9 GHz public safety radio.

Mesh Repeater Nodes - Form backhaul links between radios but do not provide client Wi-Fi service. These nodes simply extend the size of the mesh 'cloud'. The most basic Mesh Repeater Node consists of two 802.11a radios.

Edge Nodes - These nodes connect to the mesh backhaul with a single link and provide client Wi-Fi service. These nodes do not extend the size of the mesh 'cloud'. The most basic Edge Node consists of a single 802.11a radio to connect to the mesh 'cloud' and a single 802.11b/g radio to provide client connectivity.

Strix Systems Indoor Wireless System (IWS) Wi-Fi Wireless Mesh

The IWS Modular Stack

A Strix IWS radio is not much taller than a coffee cup, with a footprint similar to the size of a CD-ROM plastic case. Strix Systems has taken a modular approach to the design of the Access/One Network. Modularity allows the IT manager to create the right wireless LAN network based on RF technology and network configuration needs. Access/One Network nodes literally snap together. Making changes to the network is as easy as popping off one module and snapping on a new one. And Access/One Network future-proofs your investment with a product that is designed to easily adapt emerging technologies like 802.16 WiMAX and 802.15.3a UltraWideband (UWB).

Individual modules include:

  • Network Server Module (NSM) to provide management and control of the entire system. At least one NSM is required in a mesh. It can be installed in any node. In a mixed indoor/outdoor mesh the NSM can be in an IWS node or an OWS node (where the NSM module is simply a plug-in circuit board in the OWS chassis).
  • 802.11b/g Radio Module (with an external antenna port)
  • 802.11a Radio Module(with an external antenna port)
  • Bluetooth Radio Module
  • Integrated Antenna Cap Module

The Strix In-Vehicle Mobile Wireless System (MWS)

Ideally suited for police, emergency services,
mass transit, and railway!

MWS is the industry's highest performance mobile extension which enables on-board video surveillance, voice over IP and critical data applications for in-vehicle wired or wireless client connectivity in public safety, railway, municipal, strategic and tactical wireless broadband mesh networks.

The MWS 100 is packed with a unique set of innovations including 802.11a and high power (DSRC-C) 4.9 GHz for public safety applications or optionally 802.11g for unlicensed client access. The MWS also includes an Ethernet port for wired connectivity to in-vehicle laptops and on-board systems. The easily configured and installed MWS yields superior high receive sensitivity, high-speed forwarding between radios and the Ethernet port and Layer 2 Network Address Translation (NAT) and VLAN mapping with preserved Quality of Service.

The Strix Integrated Wireless Video Surveillance System (IWVS)

This integrated outdoor surveillance system is specifically designed to deliver high quality IP video over the Strix Systems wireless Wi-Fi mesh network. Users can remotely pan, tilt and zoom the high quality IP cameras and built in high-power 802.11a, 802.11b/g or 4.9 GHz Public Safety band radio provides a secured, encrypted Wi-Fi access to the Strix Systems wireless mesh network.

Access/One Edge Wireless System (EWS)

  • EWS-100 802.11b/g plus 802.11a Dual Band Edge Extender
  • EWS-150 802.11b/g-only Edge Extender

A Strix Access/One Outdoor Wireless System (OWS) is on the street, in the courtyard, on the dock, or somewhere else "outside" - but you're inside. Perhaps you're a resident in a multi-tenant building or you're in an office at a corporate campus where a Strix mesh interconnects buildings and provides Wi-Fi service in an outdoor courtyard area.
